Small Business Saturday in Redditch

I am delighted to bang the drum for small business again this year in Redditch.

Small Business Saturday is a great excuse to promote local companies and remind people to support the local economy.

2014 sees the second Small Business Saturday for the UK, an American phenomenon brought over the water by Chuka Umuna to boost small businesses.

Last year SBS saw an additional £500 million worth of trade driven to local businesses and I hope the local and national campaigns will do the same this year, encouraging people to use their local shops and source their goods and services from local companies.

In Redditch small and medium enterprises are the back bone of our economy making up the majority of our companies, employing up to 49 and 249 staff respectively.

Hayward Wright Accountants are just one of the local businesses that I will be HW_text.pngpromoting today on Small Business Saturday, who are making a vital contribution to our town.

As a local employer I have been impressed with their commitment to trainees, supporting their development by sponsoring training and helping staff achieve their chartered status.  Yesterday Alistair Druett told me of Hayward Wright’s commitment to the local area having recently purchased new premises on Clews Road in Redditch.

Alistair reported to me “Having offices in Redditch and Worcester we cover the West Midlands.  Working with business owners we help them realise their goals by offering proactive advice and accounting services”.

Let’s support local business, today and as often as possible.

I am delighted that Lansalot have expanded their business and decided to base themselves in Greenlands.

Over the next eighteen months three new quality apprenticeships will be created, not to mention the job opportunities for the businesses who move into the newly refurbished offices.

As a proactive small business themselves, Lansalot understand very well the barriers to other small businesses. I'm sure offering business space alongside IT support will be successful for both Lansalot and the small businesses based here.
